Bet it would work, but mine just keeps giving the 'Licensing for this product has expired' error. -
I dont think this by itself helps. Modifying hostsfile is necessary so adobe cant connect to activation servers indeed but you must of course have correct key. Propably these dont work or something, idk. I use Photoshop CS2 simply because it's better than CS4 :p

Since I just reinstalled cs4 because of rc end, I will add some more keys, those 3 may have been locked out, or w/e but I have cs4 unlocked completely again, just use those previous steps, but here are 3 more keys:
