I need a VERY detailed tut

Since today was the first day i've ever opened photoshop. I need a n00b tut for sig making. I've found a lot of great ones but they tell me to do stuff that I have no clue how to do. First thing...I couldn't find the smudge too, I assumed that it was the Blur tool. Also when I put a Render in that was way too big, I had no clue how to resize it.
If any of you guys have made detailed tuts or know of any good ones, please post them here.

CTRL + T, lets you resize whatever layer u have currently selected. One of the great sides of Photoshop is layers. You should think your image as block of flats. Every layer is one flat, so if u clean top flat, it wont clean other flats :D , sorry for stupid example but i think it describes layers pretty well.

ah thanks, I got the resize thing down. yea the tuts were telling me to add C4D's and stuff in there, I got some of those and it's pretty confusing. but I'm learning
