Did you even tried it? I tried in on my Nexus 4 and it's at the same status since 2 months now. It's just bullshit, and the core underneath is just CyanogenMOD.

No I didnt try the DEVELOPER PREVIEW that's the only version that's out. Theres only 4 official versions and rest are unofficial ports done by XDA-developers members, some port would already be for my cellphones (HTC Desire and SGS2) but I heard that they are laggy as fuck and call/SMS dont work so I'll wait for official stuff. Things like this dont happen in 2 months.
"It's already basically out" was pretty wrong term by me. Theres only developer preview at the moment and versions like that tend to lack features, be buggy as fuck, even not work at all. I personally have great expectations towards this OS since Android basically is Linux already, now there's just more Linuxish OS coming for cellphones.

I got a shitty old Sony Ericsson at the moment, maybe time to upgrade and install this OS on when it is finished.

aaa ok, well if you prefer Android HTC One or SGS 4 are probably the best devices, pretty expensive tho. SGS III ain't that expensive anymore and it's not much different from SGS 4. HTC One X is one choice also.
If you want super-cheap phone, you could get ZTE Blade 3, I've heard they are not that bad even when they are quite cheap.

Get a fucking Nexus 4. A new version Android is out? Np, you got it instantanelly on your phone. Gtfo of Bands like HTC, Shitsung and co. I've been developing for Samsung devices ( Read Porting drivers and writing code and function for Android ), In ICS time, and the OpenSourcing is just shitty, and the crappy codes are everywhere.

Nexus is the way to go, and in second, I'd persoanlly take the HTC One. Cause, even tough they don't release OS updates and stuff fast enough, they still push out Kernel SRC (which they have to because of the GPL Liscence) quite fast which would allow you to push some custom ROMs, like Cyano, AOKP Paranoid Android & Co.

                      Nexus 4 : 350€.

This said, about Ubuntu OS, there isn't ANYTHING new in it since 2 MONTHS. Nothing. Still the same DemoOS, with fake notifications, fake contacts. Use it 15 minutes, then you'll just come back to your Favorite ROM.

If you need more information on android, or devices etc, send me a PM, this is one subject I'm familiar with.

Too bad your statement is invalid when rooting the device, it's whatever you want it to be and you get the updates when you download them. HTCs and Samsungs only "faults" compared to Nexus-phones are UI on top of Android that some people might not like, sometimes price and some problems with updates, that's why I for example have AOKP ROM since I dislike TouchWiz.

Ubuntu OS is not ready and it's just a developer preview so it's not meant to be used as a daily ROM and only an idiot would install it for a phone they use daily. Also only an idiot would think that a brand new cellphone operating system would be ready in 2 months. It's not same as when some 13 years old modifies CyanogenMod's wallpaper at XDA-Developers and releases it as new ROM. These things actually take time.

Yeah I forgot about Nexus 4, it's also an awesome choice for a cellphone, good price, stock Android experience ( that you can get with AOKP for almost any phone tho ), good hardware.

If you stay unrooted, on like every device that are out on the market, Galaxy S4 beeing an exeption, they're all running an older version of android. HTC One is running 4.1.2, not even 4.2.1.

Thus, I agree on the fact that everyone on XDA releaseing a "custom" ROM on xda, calls himself as a developer, when mostly what he did was just using winrar, to throw/remove two apk, and modify some theme/wallpapers etc.

But my point is, most of flagship phones, are running older android version than every "new" nexus out there.

I guess it's time to order Nexus 4, last night when I was drunk I thought it was a good idea trying to catch my SGS2 that my friend dropped from balcony of first floor.
Surprise, surprise, I didnt catch it and the glass on top of display got broken, phone still works tho and display didnt get damaged but getting glasscuts everytime I use my phone does not amuse me.

It took that much to break? My friends iphones screen broke when he dropped it from 20cm

SGS2 should have "Gorilla Glass" so I'm kinda surprised it got broken that easily. The drop was maybe 2.5 meters and it was sand yard, I can however notice 2 spots where the cracks have spread so it seems there has been rocks or something where it fell.
